Proteks is a local company that you can trust
Proteks is a family-run business with a straightforward, customer-first approach. We turn up when we say we will, keep the work area tidy, and do our best to minimise disruption while we work. You’ll get honest advice on the best route for your driveway — renew, repair, coat or replace — based on what’s actually needed, not what’s most profitable.
Mono Block Renewal
A high-impact upgrade that costs far less than a new driveway
Over time, mono blocks can lose their colour, the joints open up, and weeds and dirt start to take hold. A proper re-sand and resin seal can make an older driveway look dramatically newer again — bringing back a clean, uniform finish and giving the whole frontage a sharper, better-kept look.
Proteks starts with a deep clean and preparation, then re-sands the joints properly so the blocks sit tightly together and the surface looks crisp again.
We then apply a long-life resin coating that seals and stabilises the driveway, helping to lock the jointing sand in place and protect the surface from everyday wear.
If the driveway has uneven areas, sagging sections or spots that puddle after rain, we can identify and correct these issues before the final resin is applied. That means you’re not just improving appearance — you’re improving performance too.
Once sealed, the surface is easier to keep clean, discourages dirt build-up, and helps reduce future weed growth, so your driveway stays looking smarter for longer with less maintenance.
Weeds and Water Puddling Solutions
We do our utmost to eradicate weeds from a driveway/patio, but would point out that weeds are an indicator that the original driveway was not laid out properly to begin with. We therefore cannot guarantee that weeds will be eradicated completely. For this reason, we will leave with you 5 Litres of our own weed killer. (This is not available in the shops). Please ensure you follow the safety protocols whilst using.
Water puddling on a Driveway/Patio can be because the area in question has not been laid correctly in the first instance. It is important to point these areas out to the install crew when they arrive on site. We will do our utmost to eradicate puddling, but cannot guarantee this will always be completely successful.
Step: 1
Before starting, there will be an intense pressure wash. This is to eliminate any weed growth between the blocks. After washing we see those areas that require repair and attention.
Step: 2
Repair and realign blocks. Our surveyor will discuss any issues and suggest solutions with you. All repairs will be undertaken prior to completing The Proteks System.
Step: 3
The driveway is vibrated with a Wacker plate, ensuring the sand blends between the blocks. The Proteks System allows the blocks to breathe naturally and water to drain.
Step: 4
Long-life resin seal. The Proteks resin seal will leave the driveway maintenance-free. Once treated, you can pressure wash without needing to sand again. What a difference!
Concrete Driveways – repaired or renewed
Concrete driveways are hard-wearing, but over time they can start to look tired and uneven. Common issues include cracking, surface staining, algae and grime build-up, flaking or spalling in cold weather, and puddling caused by dips or poor falls. In some cases you’ll also see patch repairs that don’t match, leaving the driveway looking untidy even if it’s still usable.
Proteks can assess the condition of your concrete and recommend the most sensible option: repair, renew or replace. Where the base is sound, we can carry out targeted repairs, improve problem areas, and renew the surface to restore a cleaner, more uniform finish that instantly lifts kerb appeal. If the concrete has widespread structural failure, major movement, or long-standing drainage problems that can’t be corrected cost-effectively, we can advise on full replacement and rebuild the driveway properly from the ground up.
You’ll get straightforward guidance, professional workmanship, and a driveway you’re proud to come home to.
Tarmac Driveways – we can either renew it or replace it
Tarmac is a popular choice for driveways because it’s durable, cost-effective and gives a clean, modern look that suits most homes. If your existing tarmac is cracked, faded, patchy or breaking up at the edges, Proteks can advise whether renewal or full replacement is the best route.
Where the base is still sound, renewing the surface can refresh the appearance for a fraction of the cost of starting again, giving you a smarter finish with far less disruption. If the sub-base has failed, levels are badly off, or puddling is a long-term issue caused by poor falls, replacement may be the better investment. In that case, we’ll remove what’s there, correct the groundwork properly, and install a new tarmac driveway designed to drain well and stand up to daily use.
Either way, you’ll get clear advice, a tidy professional job, and a driveway that lifts kerb appeal immediately.

Driveway Questions
Can you renew faded and uneven mono block driveways?
Yes. We deep-clean the surface, repair and re-align uneven areas where needed, re-sand the joints, compact the blocks properly, then apply a long-life resin seal to restore a crisp, uniform finish.
Will driveway sealing stop weeds coming back?
It can significantly reduce weed growth by stabilising and sealing the joints, but weeds often relate to the original installation and conditions over time. We do our utmost to remove weeds during preparation and we’ll advise on simple steps to keep regrowth under control.
Which areas do you cover for driveway work?
We cover Central Scotland, with Glasgow and Edinburgh as key service areas, and we also work throughout North and South Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire, Stirlingshire and Fife. If you’re unsure, just ask and we’ll confirm quickly.
Can you fix puddling or sagging areas before sealing?
Often, yes. If there are dips, low spots or sections that have moved, we’ll identify them during the survey and discuss the best way to correct levels before applying the final resin or coating. Some drainage issues may require more extensive groundwork.
